Case study
Wood industrywaste
Wood is one of the most important existing renewable resources, making its efficient management and transformation fundamental, especially in economic and environmental terms, especially in a time when sustainability has become a major concern in manufacturing.
Origin
Waste from the timber industry come from various sectors of activity, such as sawmills, panels, carpentry and furniture.
Features
This wood waste composite is obtained by compression molding technology, using the wood dust residues, which are previously dispersed in a thermoplastic polymeric matrix material, in mass percentages comprised between 50-70%, on the final weight of the composite.
The models obtained have reduced elongation and fracture properties, as well as low thermal properties.
